Nobel Institute Addresses Proposal to Award Peace Prize to Trump

The recent suggestion by Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado to bestow the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 upon U.S. President Donald Trump has elicited an official response from the Nobel Institute in Norway. The institute clarified that the prize cannot be transferred, shared, or revoked under any circumstances.
In a statement, the institute emphasized that decisions regarding the award are final and not subject to dispute, adhering to established regulations. It noted that the awarding committees refrain from commenting on the actions or views of laureates after the prize has been conferred.
Machado explained in an interview with Fox News that her proposal to honor Trump is a gesture of appreciation from the Venezuelan populace following the removal of former president Nicolas Maduro, who has recently been apprehended by U.S. authorities.
She remarked: "Has the prize been offered to Trump before? That has not happened yet."
Trump, for his part, expressed enthusiasm about the potential award, stating he would be honored to accept it if Machado extends the offer during their forthcoming meeting in Washington next week. He linked the proposed award to his previous diplomatic efforts.
However, the Nobel Peace Prize regulations are stringent regarding the alteration of award recipients, rendering any modifications to the winners after the announcement both illegal and impractical.
