Israel Claims Control Over Mount Sheikh Amid Regional Security Concerns

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed on Friday that Israeli forces maintain control over the summit of Mount Sheikh, as well as a designated "safe zone" within Syrian territory. He underscored that Israel is committed to safeguarding the Golan Heights and the Galilee region in response to what it perceives as increasing security threats.

Katz further stated that Israel bears responsibility for the safety and security of the Druze community in Syria, asserting that the country will take necessary measures to ensure their protection amid recent developments in the area.
