From Funeral to Double Shock: A Woman Comes Back to Life Before Her Burial and Then Passes Away Again in Chlef, Algeria

The municipality of Zboudja in the Chlef province of western Algeria witnessed a strange and touching incident, after a woman regained consciousness just minutes before her burial, turning the atmosphere of sadness into overwhelming joy, before tragedy struck again with her death a few hours later.

The family had announced the woman's death and began preparations for her burial in the Ben Yza cemetery, but the surprise occurred when they went to the hospital to collect the body, where they were shocked to find that she was still alive.

The news spread quickly on social media, with mixed reactions between those who considered it a "miracle" and those who blamed the family for hastily declaring her death.

However, the joy did not last long, as the woman actually passed away a few hours after regaining consciousness, bringing sadness back to her relatives and the residents of the area who experienced moments of rare hope.

In a medical explanation of the incident, Dr. Mohamed Kouach, a public health specialist, clarified that the diagnosis of death is only made after a thorough examination by a specialist doctor, noting that some rare cases may experience deep coma or temporary cessation of vital functions, which may be misinterpreted as death.

He added that the confirmed signs of death include dilation of the pupils, cessation of the heart, and body coldness, emphasizing that medical law requires waiting at least two hours before issuing a death certificate, to avoid such rare cases where the patient may briefly awaken before ultimately passing away later.

This painful incident has reignited the debate in Algeria regarding the procedures for declaring death, and the necessity for strict medical supervision before taking any steps related to burial, especially in rural areas that may lack adequate medical resources.
