The chief archaeologist at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Egypt, Magdy Shaker, criticized the statements of Israeli journalist Eidi Cohen, who hinted at Israel's involvement in the construction of the pyramids, describing these claims as a direct distortion of history.
Shaker said, during an interview on "Al-Nahar" channel, that the time difference between the construction of the Great Pyramid and the emergence of the modern Israeli entity exceeds 1100 years, asking: "How can a historical participation be invented for an entity that did not exist yet?".
He added that what Israel practices today confirms that it has not contributed to the creation of a civilization, but rather has practiced hostility towards civilization through what it has committed in Gaza and other violations against humanity.
Shaker emphasized that confronting such claims should be done with science and logic, not by ignoring them, pointing out in this context the significant updates in the Grand Egyptian Museum, where entire halls have been dedicated to King Ramses II and King Tutankhamun, using modern display and lighting techniques that provide visitors with an unprecedented visual experience.
He explained that the museum houses about 57,000 artifacts, including pieces displayed for the first time, and others presented in scientifically advanced ways that preserve their historical value, noting that the oldest displayed piece is a stone axe estimated to be about 700,000 years old, before the appearance of modern humans.
Shaker also showcased two wooden statues covered in gold found in Tell Farakha in Dakahlia in 2006, suggesting that they represent royal or religious figures from the pre-dynastic era, i.e., 1400 years before the construction of the Giza pyramids, reflecting an artistic value and civilizational skill that preceded the emergence of any subsequent entity claiming a role in the construction of the pyramids.
