Saudi Arabia to Host Conference for Southern Yemen Following Alimi's Appeal

On Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to a request from Rashad Alimi, President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh that includes all southern factions in Yemen.
An official statement indicated that the purpose of the conference is to bring various parties to the dialogue table to explore equitable solutions to the southern issue, promoting peaceful coexistence and ensuring security and stability in the southern governorates.
Alimi expressed his hope that the conference would encompass all southern forces and figures without exception, including the Southern Transitional Council. He emphasized the importance of avoiding the exclusion or marginalization of any party and respecting the historical, political, and social dimensions of the southern issue.
This request follows calls from southern factions for the Kingdom to host and sponsor the conference in Riyadh, aiming to ensure a neutral process that serves the interests of all southern people.
* Reactions from Southern Factions
This development comes after southern political components publicly rejected unilateral actions taken by Aidarus Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council. They described these actions as detrimental to the essence of the southern issue and as marginalizing numerous leaders and factions.
The components asserted that Al-Zoubaidi's unilateral decisions were made to further external agendas, which they believe have harmed the southern issue and disrupted the cohesion of the southern community.
This conference is viewed as a potential opportunity to restore unity among southern factions and facilitate comprehensive dialogue, with Saudi Arabia expressing support for Yemeni efforts to resolve the crisis while safeguarding the interests of all parties involved.
