China Opposes U.S. Tariffs Targeting Trade with Iran

China has firmly rejected any unilateral tariffs following U.S. President Donald Trump's recent social media statements threatening a 25% tariff on nations engaging in trade with Iran.
A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington stated:
"China's stance against arbitrary tariffs is resolute. Trade wars have no victors, and coercion does not address issues effectively."
He continued: "We strongly oppose any unlawful unilateral sanctions and violations of legal norms, and we will implement all necessary measures to safeguard our legitimate rights and interests."
This development occurs amid heightened economic pressure from the United States on Tehran, reflecting growing political and economic tensions between the two nations.
Analysts suggest that the U.S. decision could elicit significant international responses due to its potential repercussions on Washington's trading partners.
U.S. officials have indicated that Trump may consider military action against Iran, with the possibility of initiating negotiations regarding the nuclear issue following any initial strike.
Experts warn that any military escalation could lead to a substantial rise in oil prices, particularly given that Iran exports approximately two million barrels per day out of an estimated total production of 3.2 million barrels per day.
Additionally, global attention is focused on U.S. actions toward Venezuela, where reports suggest substantial investments that appear to reflect a political strategy rather than a purely market-driven assessment.
